Usually, an ultraviolet phototube that responds to the narrow ultraviolet band of 185 - 260nm is adopted. When the specific ultraviolet rays generated by the flame irradiate the ultraviolet phototube, it will trigger the photoelectric effect and generate an electrical signal. After being amplified and processed, this signal can be used to determine the presence or absence of the flame and the intensity information. Some integrated ultraviolet flame detectors will also cooperate with the identification of the characteristic flicker frequency of the flame to detect the flame more accurately.
Structural features: Generally, the ultraviolet probe and the detection control mainboard are integrated and encapsulated in a single housing. To address protection issues such as dust and water resistance, and to enhance anti-electromagnetic interference performance, the housing is mostly made of aluminum alloy. In addition, an air-cooled pipe is usually installed at the front end for introducing cooling air, which cools down the internal key components and prevents equipment damage caused by factors such as high temperature in the furnace chamber.
Strong anti-interference capability: It is only sensitive to ultraviolet rays generated by flames and does not respond to light, high-temperature radiation in the furnace chamber, etc., which can effectively eliminate interference from these factors. For example, in an industrial kiln environment, it can avoid false alarms caused by high temperatures in the furnace chamber.
Fast response speed: Since the generation and disappearance of ultraviolet rays are almost synchronous with the ignition and extinguishing of flames, the integrated ultraviolet flame detector can quickly detect flame changes, with a response time usually reaching the millisecond level. For example, the response speed of the Rosemount 975UF ultra-fast ultraviolet and infrared flame detector is less than 20 milliseconds.
High detection accuracy: By detecting ultraviolet rays of specific wavelengths, it can accurately determine the state of the flame and promptly detect subtle changes in the flame, providing reliable guarantee for the stable operation of the combustion system.
Installation and maintenance: During installation, ensure that the probe is aligned with the flame, and the target flame should fill the probe's viewing angle as much as possible. Meanwhile, the detection channel in front of the probe must be ventilated and cooled to prevent damage to the sensor caused by high-temperature conduction from the furnace chamber. The cooling air is required to be dry and clean. In terms of maintenance, some products are equipped with an automatic self-inspection function to ensure that the equipment remains in a stable working state continuously.
