 A pressure transmitter can sense pressure variables, such as the pressure generated by media like gases and liquids, and then convert the pressure value into standard electrical signals or other signals for output according to certain rules. Common output signals include 4 - 20mA DC current signals, 0 - 5V DC voltage signals, 0 - 10V DC voltage signals, etc. These signals can be transmitted over long distances to display instruments, control systems and other equipment, so that operators can know the pressure situation in real time, and control and adjust related equipment, thus realizing automatic production and monitoring.

  • Piezoresistive principle: Based on the piezoresistive effect of silicon. A Wheatstone bridge structure is fabricated on a silicon wafer through semiconductor processes. When pressure acts on the silicon wafer, the wafer deforms, causing changes in the resistance values in the bridge, which in turn leads to a change in the output voltage of the bridge. After processing by circuits such as amplification and compensation, an output signal with a linear relationship to the pressure is obtained. Transmitters based on this principle feature high precision and fast response speed, and are widely used in industrial process control and other fields.
  • Capacitive principle: Utilizes changes in capacitance to measure pressure. It usually consists of a movable electrode and a fixed electrode forming a capacitive structure. When pressure acts on the movable electrode, the distance or area between the electrodes changes, thereby causing a change in capacitance. The capacitance change is converted into a voltage or current signal for output through a measuring circuit. Capacitive pressure transmitters have advantages such as good stability and strong anti-interference ability, and are often used in occasions with high requirements for measurement accuracy and stability.

Piezoelectric principle: Certain crystalline materials (such as quartz crystals) generate electric charges when subjected to pressure, which is the piezoelectric effect. When pressure is applied to the piezoelectric material, the generated charges are converted into a voltage signal through a charge amplifier, and then processed to output a signal corresponding to the pressure. However, piezoelectric pressure transmitters are generally more suitable for measuring dynamically changing pressures, such as impact force, vibration pressure, etc.

  • Absolute pressure transmitter: It measures the pressure relative to absolute vacuum. It is often used to measure the vacuum degree of vacuum systems, atmospheric pressure, and some industrial processes that require accurate measurement of absolute pressure, such as vacuum drying in the pharmaceutical industry and vacuum packaging in the food packaging industry.
  • Gauge pressure transmitter: It measures the pressure relative to the local atmospheric pressure, which is the pressure value we commonly refer to in daily life. It is widely used in industrial production, such as the pressure measurement of hydraulic oil in hydraulic systems, the pressure measurement of compressed air in pneumatic systems, and the pressure measurement of fluids in various pipelines.

  • Differential pressure transmitter: It is used to measure the difference between two pressures. In flow measurement, it often calculates the fluid flow by measuring the differential pressure before and after a throttling device (such as an orifice plate, Venturi tube); in terms of liquid level measurement, it determines the liquid level height by using the difference between the static pressure generated by the liquid height and the atmospheric pressure.

  • Pressure-sensitive element: This is the core component of a pressure transmitter, responsible for directly sensing pressure and converting it into changes in other physical quantities such as resistance, capacitance, and electric charge. Common pressure-sensitive elements include silicon piezoresistive chips, ceramic capacitive diaphragms, piezoelectric crystal plates, etc.
  • Measuring circuit: It processes the weak signals output by the pressure-sensitive element through amplification, filtering, linearization compensation, temperature compensation, etc., to improve measurement accuracy and stability, and converts them into standard output signals.
  • Housing and connecting components: The housing provides mechanical protection for internal components and has a certain degree of protection to adapt to different industrial environments, such as dustproof, waterproof, and corrosion-resistant. Connecting components include pressure interfaces, which are used to connect with pipelines or containers of the measured pressure medium; common types are threaded interfaces, flange interfaces, etc. There are also electrical interfaces for connecting with external measurement and control systems, such as terminal blocks, aviation plugs, etc.
